Abstract

This study explores how context functions as a core element in stirring human emotions. It begins by defining "context" and tracing the origins of the term. The research then analyzes how the eloquence of context evokes deep feelings in the poetry of Abu Firas and Al-Sharif Al-Radi, focusing on shared themes such as emotional openings, the pain of loss, prayers for the deceased, the use of words like “blame” and “loyalty,” and reflections on sorrow, confusion, and sacrifice.
The study highlights unique features in each poet’s expression. Abu Firas, for instance, explicitly repeats the word “mother” three times, blending personal grief with the pain of imprisonment. Al-Sharif Al-Radi uniquely uses the word ghaleel (burning grief) to express his sorrow.
A separate section examines mutual influence between poets of the same era, especially between Abu Firas and Al-Mutanabbi, touching on poetic rivalry and the nuanced use of pronouns in denying joy. It also studies how Al-Sharif Al-Radi’s elegy for his grandmother reflects Al-Mutanabbi’s themes of pride.
The research concludes with findings and recommendations, seeking success and guidance from God Almighty.
