Praise be to God, who created man from a single soul, and created from it his mate to dwell with her, and created love and mercy between them, and may blessings and peace be upon the best of all of God’s creation, Muhammad bin Abdullah, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family and companions. As for what follows: God Almighty has legislated for us the best laws and guided us to the best religions. Among the laws of God Almighty is marriage, by which the earth is populated and humanity reproduces. Because of Islam’s keenness on the family entity, it has made among the five necessities preserved by the Sharia the preservation of lineage and honor. The medical examination before marriage is one of the medical events that have become necessary in the contemporary time, especially with the tremendous progress in medical technologies, the emergence of dangerous infectious diseases that lead to the death of the soul, as well as the tremendous progress in knowing the genetic characteristics of humans (the human genome), and for this reason it is necessary for scientists Researchers are seeking to clarify its legal ruling, so that those Muslims who need it will know when it is permissible for them to benefit from this scientific progress, and when it is forbidden for them.
