Abstract

The door to study the inimitability of the Noble Qur’an has been open for a long time, opened by Abdul Qaher Al-Jurjani. What the Sheikh chose in this section was well-received, and was accepted in the hearts and those who came after him - who were concerned with the miraculous - followed his method, and the choice of Abd al-Qahir has been established among scholars, because they think that it is the only way to realize the inimitability of the Qur’an. Hence, the possibility of deviating from this choice diminished, and those who interested rejected to search for another path besides the path of rhetorical formulation.
But when some of the later students who study inimitability reviewed the efforts of their predecessors in the path of rhetorical formulation, they found them insufficient and when they contemplated the outcomes of their work, the product did not convince them, but with that they proceeded on the same path as their predecessors had gone. They did not stop from proceeding on the same path although the efforts of those who preceded did not produce the desired fruits. They proceeded on the same path hoping to achieve what the predecessors hadn't achieved. However, the outcomes of the late was not better than the outcomes of their predecessors, and those who acknowledged among them acknowledged that - despite their continuous efforts - nothing was achieved from what they wanted in the chapter of rhetorical formulation.
