Abstract

This study aims to highlight the functions of an important group that came to the Meccan society in the second Mamluk era, namely the Mamluk military group who were sent by the authority in Egypt to Mecca - and for a temporary period - to carry out tasks assigned to them; Whether they were security, architectural, administrative or other tasks, and after completing their tasks, they would return to Cairo, and these soldiers often came during the Hajj and Umrah and commercial seasons, and from the military - also - a category whose job was specialized in the security aspect in Mecca, and they worked under the leadership of The princes of Mecca, and they were part of their military forces, and fought with the nobles in their wars, as well as contribute to maintaining security in the Holy Mecca, and this study intends to show the categories of the Mamluk soldiers who came to Mecca, and the jobs they assumed, and examples of the military in their ranks who assumed the jobs and what social position they enjoyed; As well as their role in various aspects in Mecca, including political, economic, religious, administrative and others.
