Abstract

The research deals with Bakr al-Qushayri’s approach to readings, and a scientific study of his choices in them and his guidance for their meanings. The researcher paved the way for that with a brief definition of al-Qushayri, and the difference between selection and weighting. He also highlighted al-Qushayri’s position on the ten frequent recitations, single recitations, and abnormal readings, especially those that contradict the drawing of the Qur’an. Where he denied its Qur’anic verses, which is in contradiction to his sheikh, the judge Ismail bin Ishaq, and the researcher proceeded in discussing the sayings: the method of reasoned weighting, citing the Qur’an, the Sunnah and the language of the Arabs.
